Welcome to the website of CIE-US! We are responsible for the Japan-America Grassroots Summits in the United States. The Grassroots Summits have been building people-to-people ties between the U.S. and Japan for 28 years, using a unique homestay-based format. The Summits alternate annually between the United  States and Japan. Here on our website, you can find accounts of past summits in locations like Kentucky and Shimane, as well as information on the 2019 Summit, to be held in Hyogo in June.

The Japan-America Grassroots Summits truly embody the spirit of people-to-people contact between Japan and the United States. In the 28 years Summits have been held, over 40,000 Japanese and Americans have participated, opening each year new sets of friendships and extending connections throughout both countries. We hope that you will be able to participate in a Japan-America Grassroots Summit!
